Politics, politicians, deadlock.

Political deadlock, we've lost our path. What's the point in continuing debate on American political issues if the vision guiding them is flawed? And I'm not talking about the vision of the founding fathers. Or the progressive leaders from our countries past. I'm talking about now. It's not longer about leading. Winning elections is not about leading this country any more. It's about making people rich. It's about power. Power corrupts.

And here's how our politicians are handling diplomacy, with tit for tat actions that they themselves say they are against! Check out this article about Venezuelan and American relations.

I'm sick of it, and I'm sick of this illegal and ulawful administration. Someone PLEASE HELP US! Helping America Vote Act. What a load of rubbish. We haven't had a fair and open election for the last two presidential votes. Someone please help.

Power. Maybe that's the problem. And this president wants nothing more than more more more.

My president is Al Gore. The guy who WON the election.

Interesting. I applaud your passion and your distate for seemingly perpetual expansion of the federal government and its role in our lives. However, I have a few points for you to consider.

First, and most obvious, Mr. Gore is not now, and never was, your President. Please believe, I'm no great fan of the Right and Mr. Bush, but he beat Gore. Gore won the popular vote, not the electoral college. The electoral vote wins the office. This rule is in place to protect state's rights and prevent the tyranny of a 50% +1 majority. Also, by the way, Gore didn't run for the Dems in 2004, Kerry did. So, I struggle to understand how you can claim that Gore is your president.

Second, why cite political tension with Venezuela as evidence of malfeasance? So we expelled a low ranking diplomat. So what? I think we have acted with admirable restraint considering the following:

-Venezuelan Pres. Hugo Chavez advocated violence against Americans and American soil while the G8 conference was in session.
-The US is moving more and more of its oil purchases from the Middle East to Venezuela even though Chavez is renegging on his promise to keep Venezuela's refineries and oil fields privatized.
-Chavez has been propping up the rotting dictatorship of communist Cuba, and has been actively working with Fidel Castro in instituting socialist programs in Venezuela.

Expelling the diplomat is the least of what we should do.

I think whoever wrote the first comment is fairly moronic. I don't think this person got my point at all. Typical American attitude of self-righteous we-can-do-no-wrong attitude.

This is absolutely childish understanding of not only my points in my post, but of the world and the governments of our world. What the poster doesn't realize is that S/HE is the problem. Not the other way around. It's this exact attitude i was posting about!

HA!! unbelievable.

But totally the sad reality.

Did i foget to mention the idocy of the first poster here that Gore DID WIN THE ELECTION (dumbass). He WON Florida. That gives him the ELECTORAL VOTE. If the Supreme Court had not stepped in where they have no legal right to tred, a recount would have been completed and Gore would have been president. SO therefore he is my president until we have a fairly elected president.

Ok. Must've touched a nerve as we've resorted to name calling and other derrogatives. My apologies.

I certainly don't see myself as part of the problem and I wholly disagree with the notion that I exhibit a "can-do-no-wrong" attitude.

Quite the contrary. I think that America's domestic and foreign policies are complicit in so much of the turmoil. In fact, part of the reason we had such a scene in Florida in 2000 is because Americans don't turn out the vote like they should. Had more people hit the polls, we wouldn't have needed the Court.

Listen, I'm a liberal, same as you. I voted for Nader in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. Got beat twice. Them's the breaks. But I guess I still don't understand your point.

Forget about your Venezuelan comment for the moment. Tell me what is so illegal about the administration and tell me what alternatives you propose to better the situation. Why do you focus so much on the Presidential elections? Clearly the representatives we elect to Congress are more important. There must be some reason the Left lost so many seats in both houses to the Republicans. After all, the President doesn't make law - he just executes it. Congress is the body that advises and consents. They make the laws - what do we do about that?
